How do I use a USB or Ethernet connection?

If Wi-Fi connection is not available, or does not have the best performance, USB or Ethernet connection (depending which Luna mode you are in) may be possible.

Mac-to-iPad Mode: USB Connection

With your Luna Display dongle plugged directly into your Mac, connect your iPad-compatible USB cord to both your Mac and your iPad.

This allows your Mac and iPad to be connected via USB connection, and allows for a more stable, consistent connection quality.

Mac-to-Mac Mode: Ethernet or USB-C Connection

Ethernet Connection

With your Luna Display dongle plugged directly into your primary Mac, plug an Ethernet cable into both your primary and secondary Macs. You can also connect both Macs directly to your router with an Ethernet cable. Once connected, enable the Ethernet connection by using the manual connect method when opening the Luna Display apps.

USB-C Connection

You can also connect your Macs together using a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C to USB-C) cable. To do so, plug the USB-C cable directly into both your primary and secondary Macs. Then, on your primary Mac, open your Network Preferences by opening System Preferences > Network, or by clicking on the Wi-Fi symbol in your menu bar and selecting Open Network Preferences. Click on "Thunderbolt Bridge," and ensure that Configure IPv4 is set to "Using DHCP."

Once your primary Mac detects that it is connected to your secondary Mac, an IP Address will be shown in the IP Address section.

On your secondary Mac, open the Luna Secondary app, choose Manual Connect, and type in the IP Address from the primary Mac. This will enable USB-C connection.
